Wir erfahren alles über das Leben der kleinen Familie auf der Insel, vor allem über die Härte des Daseins, aber auch vom großen Glück. Durch die Konfirmationszeit bekommt Ingrid Kontakt zur Außenwelt und Sehnsucht danach. Sie geht aufs Festland, tritt eine Stellung als Hausmädchen an und kümmert sich um die Kinder. Als die Eltern eines Tages spurlos verschwinden, steht sie mit den Kindern alleine da und nimmt sie mit auf ihre Insel. Dem Autor (zuletzt "Die Farbe der Reue", ID-A 17/12) gelingt es, in dieser eindrucksvollen Geschichte jeglichen Kitsch zu meiden, vielmehr schafft er mit seiner poetischen Sprache viel Atmosphäre. Gerne ab mittleren Büchereien empfohlen.
