Buchrückseite: For 20 years Frans Vos headed the graphics workshop at the Jan van Eyck Academie. As "graphicus" and photographer he helped artists and designers produce posters, invitations, (artist’s) books and autonomous works. Experiments with silk-screen, lithography and offset printing were readily embraced. In September 2006 Frans Vos retired. To pay tribute to the skilled professional that he was, the Jan van Eyck hosted a special exhibition showcasing graphic works made in the past 20 years. The productions were non-chronologically presented - as if in a drawing room - on wallpaper made for this very occasion. The sheer amount of the works - a mere fraction of the sum total - underscored that the workshop breathed creativity, diligence and dynamics. This publication testifies to that. Artists, designers, colleagues and Marijke Vos look back and relate encounters and experiences they had with Frans and reflect on the significance of the graphics workshop at the institute
