Die Studie bespricht die ptolemäische Partikulargesetzgebung zu Militäradministration, Landwirtschaft, Landverteilung, Prozessrecht, Verwaltungsrecht, Amtsdisziplin und Kultlandschaft und diskutiert das Asylrecht und das Phänomen der Amnestie in ihrer ägyptischen Ausprägung. Sie vollzieht die Intentionen und Linien der Herrscher diachron nach, zeigt aber auch Problemfelder und die Grenzen der Aussagefähigkeit der Überlieferung auf. Daneben bespricht sie Genese, Veröffentlichung und Rezeption der Gesetzestexte. Damit verschafft sie dem Leser Einblicke in deren Auswirkungen auf die ägyptische Verwaltungs- und Lebenswirklichkeit und verbindet so politische Geschichte mit Mikrogeschichte
