Seit 1975 gibt es die Comics um Abrax, Brabax und Califax, genannt die Abrafaxe. Diese lösten die Digedags ab, die 20 Jahre lang Aushängeschild der DDR-Comics waren, und erscheinen in Heftform und in (hauptsächlich ostdeutschen) Periodika. 1982 erschien zudem das bislang einzige Buch mit den Abrafaxen, jetzt hat der neue Verlag gleich 2 Hardcover-Alben (s.a. "Hollywood pursuit" in dieser Nr.) herausgebracht. Das vorliegende, ein Kleinalbum, versammelt 3 Geschichten, in denen die an Zeit und Raum nicht gebundenen Helden im London des 19. Jahrhunderts Kriminalfälle lösen. Zeichnerisch können diese Comics dabei durchaus mit dem klaren, attraktiven Stil der Vorläufer mithalten (Ähnlichkeiten sind vielfach vorhanden, ohne jedoch zu kopieren), auch die Aufmachung ist sehr gediegen. Vom Inhaltlichen her, mit einfachen, vorhersehbaren Plots und nicht sehr origineller Ausführung, lassen sie jedoch zu wünschen übrig. Deshalb nur eingeschränkt zu empfehlen.^ [Roland Schwarz
