Klappentext: Auf den ersten Blick scheint kaum etwas weiter auseinanderzuliegen als die griechisch-römische Antike und die Science Fiction. Doch bei genauerer Betrachtung finden sich zahlreiche Berührungspunkte, die zeigen, dass die Science Fiction auf vielfache Weise immer wieder auf die antike Welt zurückgreift und somit oft auch eine Reise in die Vergangenheit darstellt. Der vorliegende Sammelband will diese Berührungspunkte anhand ausgewählter Beispiele aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive aufzeigen und näher untersuchen. Dabei behandeln die jeweiligen Beiträge grundlegende Fragen zur Beziehung zwischen Science Fiction und Altertum oder konzentrieren sich auf einzelne Autoren wie Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, H.P. Lovecraft und Tad Williams. Eine Untersuchung zur "Romanisierung Hollywoods" bezieht schließlich auch den Film als Medium mit ein.
