Der Führerstellt insgesamt 60 Touren in drei Schwierigkeitsstufen vor, manche der Touren sind sogar familiengeeignet. Anfangs im Buch ist eine Tourenübersicht für den schnellen Überblick sowie eine Gebietsübersichtskarte und eine kurze Einführung in die Region. Anschließend werden die einzelnen Touren mit einer ausführlichen Streckenbeschreibung, Kartenausschnitten und allen notwendigen Angaben (Start, Tourencharakter, Länge, Dauer, Höhenmeter, Kindereignung etc.) beschrieben. Das über 100 km lange Pustertal mit seiner markanten West-Ost-Ausrichtung erstreckt sich von Mühlbach im Westen bis nach Lienz in Osttirol. Durch das Tal fließen die Rienz im Westen und die Drau im Osten. Zum Unteren Pustertal gehören die Gemeinden Mühlbach, Rodeneck und Vintl und das noch sehr urtümliche Pfunderertal. Nach Osten hin schließt sich das Hochpustertal an. Weitläufige Almen und Weiden, abgeschiedene Seen und vor allem die beeindruckenden Bergspitzen der Dolomiten sind die naturräumlichen Höhepunkte. Seit dem Bau der Südbahn im 19. Jahrhundert ist das Hochpustertal eine vielbesuchte Tourismusregion. Touristische Schwerpunkte sind neben Sexten die Ortschaften Innichen, Toblach und Prags. - Im Tal liegen zwei bekannte Seen: Der Pragser Wildsee ist ein Naturdenkmal im Naturpark Fanes-Sennes-Prags, der Toblacher See ein wichtiger Rastplatz der Zugvögel im Frühjahr und Herbst. Wahrzeichen des Pustertals und der gesamten Dolomiten ist das berühmteste Gipfeltrio der Dolomiten: Die Drei Zinnen. Kaum bekannt, aber sehr interessant: Die "Rückseite" der Sextener Dolomiten mit wilden Tälern und schroffen Gipfeln. Touristischer Hauptort ist Auronzo. Kurzinfo zum Produkt. Das sportliche Highlight: Am "Alpinisteig" den Spuren des Gebirgskrieges folgen: Große Kulisse und längere Klettersteigpassagen. Fantastisch! Das Familien-Highlight: Toblach und sein See bilden ein ideales Wander- und Erlebnisrevier für Familien: Kunst, Kultur, ein Badesee und mehrere Einkehrmöglichkeiten. Besuchenswert: Das Naturparkzentrum und der Tierpark Gustav Mahler. Das Genuss-Highlight: Die Runde um den Einser mit zweitem Frühstück in der Büllelejochhütte, Polenta und Steinpilzen in der Drei-Zinnen-Hütte und einer leckeren Südtiroler Marende in der Talschlusshütte. Dazu eine Felskulisse, wie sie nicht schöner sein könnte. Lasst es euch schmecken! Das persönliche Highlight: Die Cadini-Runde mit dem "Sentiero Bonacossa" und dem "Sentiero Durissini": Schartenhüpfen im Zackenwald über dem Misurinasee, rundum Fels und am Horizont große Dolomitengipfel wie die Drei Zinnen, der Cristallo und der Sorapis. Das Kultur-Highlight: Die romanische Stiftskirche in Innichen, eines der bedeutendsten Bauwerke der Epoche in ganz Tirol.
