Werkgetreue, kultivierte und handwerklich anspruchsvolle Verfilmung des Dostojewski-Romans, allerdings uninspiriert und ohne Engagement. Der Film ist der Endpunkt einer Reihe aufwendiger Klassikerverfilmungen der 60er Jahre ("Krieg und Frieden", "Anna Karenina", "Die Brüder Karamasow"), mit denen sich das sowjetische Kino zu erneuern versuchte. - Ab 16.
