1517 veröffentlichte Martin Luther die 95 Thesen. Zuerst fasste die Reformation aber nicht etwa in den sächsischen Herzogtümern Fuss, sondern an Weser, Werra und Fulda. Landgraf Philipp von Hessen war das politische Haupt der Reformation. Er setzte neben Herzog Ernst von Braunschweig-Lüneburg und den Räten der Städte Bremen und Braunschweig die neue Konfession bereits Mitte der 1520er Jahre durch. In Sachsen geschah das erst 1539. Das Jubiläumsjahr 2017 gibt Anlass zu einer Ausstellung im Weserrenaissance-Museum Schloss Brake in Lemgo, die ein bisher wenig bekanntes Kapitel der europäischen Geschichte vorstellt und damit den Blick über die geläufigen Klischees zu dieser Epoche hinaus weitet. Das reich und farbig bebilderte Handbuch zur Ausstellung enthält acht Beiträge und Material zu den wichtigsten Kapiteln der Reformation im Weserraum. --
