Fritz Strassmann (1858–1940) war 1904 Mitbegründer der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Rechtsmedizin und Institutsdirektor an der Charité. Sein Sohn Georg, ebenfalls ein bedeutender Gerichtsmediziner, musste mit seiner Familie in die USA emigrieren, um dem Nationalsozialismus zu entkommen. Der jüngste Sohn von Fritz Strassmann, Reinhold, war ein ausgezeichneter Mathematiker, der unter anderem wegen schwerer Kriegsverletzungen nicht rechtzeitig emigrieren konnte.
