Sie hat sich von ihrer traditionsbewussten Familie abgegrenzt, arbeitet als Lehrerin und lebt in ihrer eigenen Wohnung in London, scheinbar akzeptiert von ihrer Umgebung. Doch eines Tages wird vor ihrem Haus ein Container abgestellt und wenig später darin ein totes, dunkelhäutiges Baby gefunden. Auf einmal steht Nita im Verdacht, heimlich ein Kind ausgetragen und es dann getötet und im Container entsorgt zu haben. Die Angriffe auf sie werden immer heftiger, sie wird von ihrer Arbeit freigestellt und bedroht. Doch wer hat ein Interesse daran, ihr derart übel mitzuspielen? L. Cody, zuletzt "Lady Bag" (ID-A 38/14), legt mit "Miss Terry" einen Roman vor, der mehr Gesellschaftsstudie als Krimi ist. Beängstigend schnell ist es mit der scheinbaren Akzeptanz der anders aussehenden Nita vorbei, das glückliche multikulturelle Leben in London im Grunde nur eine Illusion. Der Roman liest sich sehr gut und ist angesichts der politischen Entwicklung in Großbritannien hochaktuell. Sehr empfehlenswert. Katja Buchholz
