2 Den Zusammenhang zwischen den beiden Teilen Mechanik und Elastizitäts- und Festigkeitslehre kennzeichnet folgendes Beispiel: Bevor man an die Berechnung eines Körpers nach der Festigkeitslehre gehen kann, muß man die auf ihn wirkenden Kräfte nach der Mechanik bestimmt haben. Es muß (Abb. 1) zunächst die Größe der Stützkraft X ermittelt werden, ehe (Abb.4) die Abmessungen x und y des Balkens B berechnet werden können. Früher unterteilte man die Mechanik nach den physikalischen Eigenschaften der Körper, indem man folgende Unterkapitel schuf: Statik der festen, der flüssigen und der gasförmigen Körper; Dynamik der festen, der flüssigen und der gasförmigen Körper. Abb.2. Abb.1. Abb.3. Abb.4. Heute gibt man der physikalischen Eigenschaft das Übergewicht und teilt zunächst nach ihr das ganze Gebiet ein, um dann nach Statik und Dynamik zu trennen. Damit ergibt sich folgende Einteilung: 1. Mechanik: Statik und Dynamik der festen Körper; 2. Hydraulik: Statik und Dynamik der flüssigen Körper; 3. Mechanik der gasförmigen Körper. Dem letztgenannten Kapitel gibt man der einschneidenden Bedeutung der Wärmewirkung wegen die Bezeichnung Wärmemechanik. Daraus ergibt sich die Gesamteinteilung: I. 1. Mechanik. 2. Hydraulik. 3. Wärmemechanik. II. Elastizitäts- und Festigkeitslehre. Der Mechanik, der Lehre von den auf Bewegungsänderung hinwirkenden Kräften, müssen zwei einleitende Kapitel vorangestellt werden: 1. Ein Kapitel über Bewegungslehre. 2. Ein Kapitel über die physikalischen Grundgesetze der Kraftwirkungen. A. Bewegungslehre. Die Bewegungslehre behandelt die Beziehungen zwischen den Größen Weg und Zeit und den auf diesen zwei Größen aufgebauten Werten Geschwindigkeit und Beschleunigung
