Based on the real story of Nguyen Van Troi, a young Vietnamese worker and communist. The film dramatizes the events following National Liberation Front bomber Nguyễn Văn Trỗi's attempt to assassinate Robert McNamara and Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. in South Vietnam in May 1963. Whilst depicting scenes of Nguyễn Văn Trỗi's arrest, torture and interrogation by the South Vietnamese. The film focuses on the relationship between Nguyễn Văn Trỗi and his wife, Hoang Thi Quyen (who is also initially imprisoned) and how his wife deals with her husband's imprisonment and execution. The final scenes show Nguyễn Văn Trỗi's wife defiantly marching as a member of the National Liberation Front. This film is adapted from Tran Dinh Van's book based upon the narration of Nguyen's wife, Live like him (Song nhu anh)
