Der Autor (Kulturhistoriker) erzählt zum 300. Geburtstag Leopold Mozarts 2019 gleich die Geschichte der gesamten Künstlerfamilie (vgl. V. Beci: "Familie Mozart") neu. Die Motzhardts, Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts im Augsburger Umland als Tagelöhner erstmals erwähnt, haben sich mit beispiellosem Fleiss, Ehrgeiz, Intelligenz und Begabung in die erste Reihe angesehener Augsburger Bürger vorgearbeitet. Breiten Raum nimmt natürlich die Familiengeschichte der prägenden drei Generationen (Leopold - Wolfgang Amadeus und Nannerl - Mozarts Söhne Karl und Franz) ein, aber es geht auch um die Fragen nach Seitenlinien (z.B. das Bäsle, Nannerls Kinder) oder woher stammt Constanze, wie war das Reisen im 18. Jahrhundert, wie erzog man in Klöstern, wie erlebte ein Künstler Fürstenwillkür, welche Anpassungsleistungen erforderte ein Umzug nach Salzburg oder Wien. Mit psychologischem Feingefühl, gutem Gespür für Zeitkolorit und äusserst kenntnisreich verwebt der Autor Familien- mit Geistes- und Kulturgeschichte zu einem farbenprächtigen Panorama.
