Mit großem Aufwand ambitioniert inszenierter Fernsehfilm, der in einer ausufernden Saga die Geschichte einer elsässischen Industriellenfamilie zwischen 1870 und 1953 eindringlich vor Augen führt. Im ersten Teil ("1870-1894") heiratet die Tochter eines reichen Industriellen und Barons in Alsheim einen Grafen; unmittelbar nach der Hochzeit bricht der Krieg aus, Elsaß kommt zu Deutschland. Der Baron fällt im Krieg, sein heranwachsender Sohn studiert in Straßburg und verliebt sich in die Tochter eines preußischen Generals. Der zweite Teil ("1904-1919") erzählt von den beiden Söhnen, die aus dieser Verbindung hervorgehen und die im Ersten Weltkrieg auf verschiedenen Seiten kämpfen. Im dritten Teil ("1927-1940") kommen jüdische Flüchtinge nach Straßburg, Hitler annektiert das Elsaß, während der letzte Teil ("1943-1953") vom elsässischen Widerstand gegen die Nazis und der Befreiung des Dorfes Alsheim handelt. Eine bemerkenswerte Produktion, in der historische Akribie und kammerspielartige Momente eine gelungene Balance eingehen, um zur offiziellen Geschichtsschreibung persönliche Perspektiven hinzuzufügen. - Ab 14.
