Mit Isabel Pins "Ein Regentag im Zoo" (BA 12/06) startete der Bajazzo-Verlag eine künstlerisch ambitionierte Pappbilderbuchreihe für die Kleinsten, die mit der Hasengeschichte von Franziska Lorenz fortgesetzt wird. Ein kleiner Hase macht sich morgens auf, um die Welt zu entdecken und stößt dabei auf Gegensätzliches. Er ist (zu) wach, die Eltern (zu) müde, ein Fluss zu breit, der Platz unter einem Zaun zum Durchschlüpfen zu schmal. Es ist das kleine Wort "zu", das ausdrückt, dass etwas in höherem Maße zutrifft als angemessen oder gut ist, das die Sache schwierig macht. Ein Feuer ist heiß und Schnee ist kalt. So heiß, dass man sich verbrennen kann, bedeutet "zu heiß" und so kalt, dass man friert "zu kalt". Lorenz hat auf Text bis auf die Gegensatzpaare ganz verzichtet. Die gestaltet sie in einfachen, reduzierten Formen in eigenwilliger Farbigkeit auf Holz, wobei Orange- und Grüntöne dominieren. So entstehen verblüffend expressive Szenen, die den Hasen das Leben im Spannungsfeld der Gegensatzpaare entdecken lassen. Keine leichte Kost sondern ein sehr anspruchsvolles Bilderbuch zur Wahrnehmungsschulung.. - Ein kleiner Hase ist unterwegs und entdeckt die Welt.
