Warum beteiligen sich OECD-Länder unterschiedlich stark an der Finanzierung globaler Umweltpolitik? Wird Umwelthilfe an Entwicklungs- und Schwellenländer gezahlt, um wirtschaftliche Interessen oder normative Wertvorstellungen der Geberländer durchzusetzen? Das Buch liefert Antworten auf diese Fragen. Theoretische Anknüpfungspunkte bieten vor allem die ökonomische Literatur und politikwissenschaftliche Theorien der internationalen Beziehungen. Im empirischen Teil der Arbeit werden Vergabehypothesen anhand aufwändig konstruierter Datensätze statistisch getestet. Es zeigt sich, dass ‘grüne’ Normen eine zentrale Determinante der Vergabeentscheidung und der ungleichen Beteiligung darstellen, während die Bedeutung von strategischen und wirtschaftlichen Interessen nachgelassen hat.
