Note:
"Jede empirische Studie ist ein Prozeß. Er reicht von der Entdeckung des Problems über seine Untersuchung bis hin zu den einzelnen Formen, die Ergebnisse der Studie zu verwerten" (Friedrichs 1980, 119). Unter diesen Formen der Verwertung ist die Darstellung der Forschungsergebnisse die schwierigste. Worauf soll der Forscher sein Augenmerk richten? Auf die strengen Blicke der Fachkollegen, die neben ihrem Interesse an den Ergebnissen auch gewohnt sind, "Fehler" zu entdecken oder gar zu suchen? Auf den "durchschnittlich gebildeten" sozialwissenschaftlichen Leser, vor allem Studenten, die ihrerseits die Ergebnisse in Lehrveranstaltungen und Examensarbeiten verwerten können oder sollen? Oder auf das unmittelbare Verwertungsinteresse von "Praktikern", die aus empirischen Studien Handlungsanleitungen ziehen wollen? Der Darstellung wird in Handbüchern der empirischen Sozialforschung wenig Interesse entgegengebracht, zumeist handeln sie vom möglichst fehlerfreien Forschungsprozeß. Und die Darstellung in vielen Berichten von Forschungsvorhaben lehnt sich sehr eng an die Phasen des Forschungsprozesses an, der allerdings aus Furcht vor methodologischer Kritik oft genug "ex-post-stilisiert" erscheint (Kern 1982, 274). Wir haben uns zu einer anderen Form der Darstellung entschlossen, die sowohl das Resultat des Forschungsprozesses ist als auch von der die Forschung begleitenden Verwertung bestimmt wurde. Da unsere Untersuchung eine "explorative Fallstudie" darstellt, bei der sich viele Möglichkeiten der Daten- und Erkenntnisgewinnung erst im Verlauf der Arbeit erschlossen, mußte der Untersuchungsplan mehrfach geändert werden. Diese Änderungen sind von uns beim Verlangerungsantrag an die DFG geschildert und von den Gutachtern für gut geheißen worden
