Vor 70 Jahren, im Jahr 1939, brach der Krieg aus, der in der gesamten Geschichte mit den meisten Opfern einherging und die größte zerstörerische Wirkung hatte. Auch für Ungarn war er unausweichlich. Im dritten Kriegsjahr, im Laufe des Jahres 1941, wurde das Land in den Weltenbrand hineingeschleudert. Wie bei vielen anderen Armeen der Welt bestand bei der Königlich Ungarischen Honvéd-Armee eine Art der Ehrung in der Auszeichnung der Toten post mortem. In dem Band sind die Daten aller Soldaten von uns zusammengetragen, die in der oben erwähnten Form postum die Auszeichnung erhielten, und zwar von Oktober 1938 bis zum Ende der Kämpfe in Ungarn im April 1945. In dem Datenverzeichnis von über 10.100 Soldaten finden sich Ehrungen und Geehrte vom einfachen Soldaten bis zum Generalmajor, angefangen von der niedrigsten in dieser Form erteilten Anerkennung, der Ungarischen Bronzenen Tapferkeitsmedaille, bis zum Mittelkreuz des Ungarischen Verdienstordens am Band für Kriegsverdienste, mit Schwertern.
