Giacomo erzählt auf witzige und lebendige Weise mit viel wörtlicher Rede von lauter verrückten Dingen, die man mit seinem Bruder erlebt, der nur einfach anders ist. Er berichtet aber auch davon, wie er sich zeitweise wegen seines Bruders geschämt hat. Einen wesentlichen Anteil an dem unkomplizierten Umgang mit Giovanni in seiner Familie haben seine Eltern, für die alle ihre Kinder auf ihre Art besonders sind.
