Report of the Maryland House Committee on Internal Improvement regarding communications from the presidents of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, and the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company responding to requests for details on various stock and financial arrangements. Includes communications of Francis Thomas (President , C. &. O. Canal Co.) and Louis McLane (President of the Baltimore & Ohio Rail Road Co.), and copies of correspondence between McLane and Baring, Brothers & Co. The letter from Francis Thomas indicates that information is being prepared and will be submitted at a later time
Note:
"Ordered that the Committee on Internal Improvements be instructed to inquire of the President of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company what arrangements the said company have made with the Barings in relation to the State bonds, and upon what terms, embracing commissions and allowances, and to transmit to this house a copy of the written contract, if any, and all correspondence on the subject; and any other information which the said President may deem necessary for the proper understanding of the expediency of the arrangement which he has effected with the Barings in regard to the State bonds."--Pages 3-4 (Statement included in communication from Louis McLane, President of the Baltimore & Ohio Rail Road Co.)
