Während die Bundesrepublik Ende der 1970er-Jahre vietnamesische Flüchtlinge aufnahm, die als "Boat People" durch die spektakulären Rettungsaktionen der "Cap Anamur" große Aufmerksamkeit erfuhren, wurden in der DDR Vietnamesen als Vertragsarbeiter angeworben und führten dort ein von der Bevölkerung abgeschottetes Leben auf Zeit. Nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung begegneten sich beide Gruppen zunächst mit Misstrauen, zumal die ehemaligen Boat People hier voll integriert waren, während die Vertragsarbeiter um ihre Zukunft in diesem Land kämpfen mussten. In diesem Band mit dem programmatischen Titel wird nun die in Deutschland lebende junge Generation vietnamesischer Herkunft in Hintergrundberichten, Reportagen, Interviews vorgestellt, die sich zu einem interessanten vielschichtigen Bild zusammenfügen. Während die Aufarbeitung der Migrationsgeschichte in dem Band "In Deutschland angekommen ..."
