Content:
The rapid rise of grid charges in recent years has sparked controversy over the distribution of these costs. Germany’s energy transition requires massive investments in the country’s grid, which are born by electricity consumers. The allocation and distribution of these costs is subject to the regulatory pricing method for grid charges of the Stromnetzentgeltverordnung (StromNEV). The book examines whether the current system of electric grid charges can still provide modern and fair prices. The study shows great need for reform. Vertical and horizontal cost allocation, the circle of users liable to pay those charges as well as the pricing methods and tariff structures of the StromNEV are examined.
