Was ist eine "gute Hochschule"? Die Umbrüche in der Hochschullandschaft, die der Bologna-Prozess auslöst, zwingen dazu, diese Frage neu zu stellen. Das tut die Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht (HWR) Berlin in dieser Festschrift für ihren langjährigen Rektor F. H. Rieger. Die Frage verlangt Rechenschaft über die Kriterien der Beurteilung, denn "gut" hat moralische, aber auch allgemein qualitative Implikationen. Es gilt, die äußeren Rahmenbedingungen seien sie rechtlich oder finanziell zu berücksichtigen, aber auch die selbst gesetzten Maßstäbe, wonach die gute Hochschule bestrebt sein muss, auf aktuelle Entwicklungen in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft angemessen zu reagieren. Der Band enthält Beiträge zu Hochschulmanagement und Hochschulpolitik (z.B. Bologna-Prozess, Hochschulfinanzierung, Internationalisierung, Akkreditierung), Beiträge zu der Reaktion von Hochschulen auf aktuelle Entwicklungen (z.B. Finanzkrise, Wirtschaftsethik, Arbeitsmarkt, Digitalisierung) und konkrete Beispiele aus der Entwicklung der HWR Berlin während der letzten Jahre (Auswertung von Absolventenbefragungen, Fusionen, Studiengangsentwicklung, nationale und internationale Kooperationen).
