Training in the Bundeswehr is strictly geared to the requirements of missions and operations and must "transport" the necessary knowledge and knowhow for a "successful" accomplishment of the mission into the heads of the servicewomen and servicemen. The mission sets the standard for the training success and provides direct information on the quality of the preceding training. Experiences gained from missions and operations must therefore be fed back into tlie regular trairning as quickly as possible. But training is also - especially in times of continuous change - a lived management of change. The members of the Bundeswehr must, on the one hand, be enabled in their training to understand correlations, to link facts to logic conclusions, to show possibilities and approaches for solutions, and to connect information to become chains of action; but, on the other hand, they must also accept already verified correlations, drawn conclusions, agreed approachesand already available changes of action as a basis for "further acting",share and make them an element of their own solutions. Only if this isguaranteed can the training be goal-oriented and consequently successful. (Europäische Sicherheit / SWP)
