"In einer Stadt der Zukunft, wo der Tod durch Krankheit kaum mehr vorkommt, sind die TV-Gewaltigen auf eine zynische Idee gekommen: Sie bieten ihren Zuschauern die Möglichkeit, einen wirklichen Tod absolut lebensecht mitzuerleben. Ein Reporter, an dessen Sehnerven eine Miniaturkamera angeschlossen ist, verfolgt eine todgeweihte Person bei jedem ihrer letzten Schritte, bis zum Ende. Die Ängste und Verzweiflung der Kandidatin, welche die Kamera aufzeichnet und allabendlich über die Fernsehgeräte verbreitet, läßt die Einschaltquoten in der Tat steigen.
