Content: This inspiring film brings hope to parents and caregivers of children who are "different." It focuses on individuals and families learning to live with a little-known and potentially fatal connective tissue disorder, Marfan Syndrome. People with the condition are frequently tall, with disproportionately long arms and legs. Young people, especially, are challenged by looking different than their peers. In My Hands asks the universal questions. Who am I? What am I? Different, and that's ok. Dancer and choreographer Ann Reinking, whose son Chris is affected with the condition, works with a group of teenagers, designing movement and dance that capitalizes on their shaky long bodies, and unexpectedly, inspires their self- esteem

Content: St. Augustine's is a Catholic school in one of the poorest sections of the embattled South Bronx. In 1985, enrollment was so low that the school was about to close. Instead Father Robert Jeffers, the school's pastor, approached music teacher Tom Pilecki and together they decided to commit the school to a new curriculum - a curriculum in which the arts, and especially music, would be treated with the importance of any academic subject. Something Within Me is the story of this remarkable school and the children whose lives it has shaped. It is the story of a school where over the last six years enrollment has tripled and reading and math scores, the lowest in the Bronx, have improved dramatically. The school produces disciplined, self-confident eighth graders with the skills to overcome their environment. This is a heartwarming reminder of the creative potential of all human beings and a signpost pointing the way toward true educational reform

Series Statement: The Anna Freud National Centre for children and families: best practice
Content: High-Conflict Parenting Post-Separation: The Making and Breaking of Family Ties describes an innovative approach for families where children are caught up in their parents' acrimonious relationship - before, during and after formal legal proceedings have been initiated and concluded. This first book in a brand-new series by researchers and clinicians at the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (AFNCCF) outlines a model of therapeutic work which involves children, their parents and the wider family and social network. The aim is to protect children from conflict between their parents and thus enable them to have healthy relationships across both sides' of their family network. High-Conflict Parenting Post-Separation is written for professionals who work with high-conflict families - be that psychologists, psychiatrists, child and adult psychotherapists, family therapists, social workers, children's guardians and legal professionals including solicitors and mediators, as well as students and trainees in all these different disciplines. The book should also be of considerable interest for parents who struggle with post-separation issues that involve their children.
