logisch vermittelt werden kann. Auch der Kritische Rationalismus erweist sich schließlich als szientistische Episode - die jedoch noch lange nicht beendet scheint. In der Forschungspraxis zeichnet sich - sozusagen weit unterhalb der Ebene hochaggregierter metatheoretischer Modellierungen - in den letzten Jahren ebenfalls ein Wandel ab. Wahrscheinlich ist dieser Wandel auf das Vordringen lebensweltlicher Problemlagen - d. h. gesellschaftlicher (Natur-)Praxisprobleme und wissenschaftlich-politischer Ethikdiskussionen - in die idealisierte, hocharbeitsteilige und spezialisierte Forschungstätigkeit zurückzuführen. Doch Kausalaussagen bleiben in diesem Zusammenhang spekulativ. Entscheidend ist, daß heute eine wissenschaftliche Bewegung eingesetzt hat, die bereit ist, die Anwendungsbedingungen wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse zu präzisieren und auf gesellschaftliche Verwendungszusammenhänge zu projizieren.

Die Bewegung steht sicherlich noch am Anfang, doch ihre Relevanz scheint unbestreitbar: denn wenn wissenschaftliches Handeln notwendig mit Komplexitätsreduktion, mit der Idealisierung von Erkenntnisbedingungen und mit zweckgebundener, zielgerichteter Forschungstätigkeit verbunden ist, dann sollte in der Tat der Übergang von wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnis zu gesellschaftlichem (Natur-)Handeln ein zentrales Anliegen sein. Eine Diskussion um Anwendungsbedingungen und Grenzen wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse spielte jedoch innerhalb des Wissenschaftssystems mit seinen traditionellen Geltungsansprüchen (auf idealisierter Ebene) keine wesentliche Rolle. Der angedeutete Konflikt zwischen Erkenntnisbildung und gesellschaftlicher Anwendung muß wissenschaftsintern erst noch ausgetragen werden, bevor sich zeigen kann, ob er auch Früchte in inhaltlicher, theoretischer und methodischer Hinsicht tragen wird.

Festzuhalten bleibt vorläufig, daß die ehemals unterstellte, »durch Wissenschaft gestiftete Kohärenz von Erkenntnis und Handlung« (Bayertz, Krohn 1986: 1 92) brüchig geworden ist
