Aus der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus sind zahlreiche Großanlagen überliefert, die Jahr für Jahr Hunderttausende Besucher anziehen - seien es die Bauten rund um Hitlers früheres Privathaus auf dem Obersalzberg, sei es das Reichsparteitagsgelände in Nürnberg, das ůKraft durch Freude-Seebad in Prora auf Rügen oder die Heeresversuchsanstalt in Peenemünde. Britische Reiseveranstalter offerieren spezielle Touren des "Dark Tourism" zu derartigen Orten. Wie soll man verantwortungsbewusst damit umgehen? Wie können Dokumentationszentren vor Ort angemessen darauf reagieren? Auf welche Weise lassen sich Erlebniswert und Erkenntnisgewinn kombinieren? Diesen Fragen gingen Experten aus Wissenschaft und Praxis auf einer internationalen Tagung im Mai 2015 in Peenemünde nach, die im vorliegenden Band dokumentiert wird. Dabei kam es zugleich zu einer Bestandsaufnahme der bisherigen Informationsangebote und deren Bewertung. Veranstaltungspartner war der im Aufbau befindliche "Verbund NS-Großanlagen", der sich als Diskussions- und Interessensforum von Stadtplanern, Denkmalpflegern, Historikern und Museumspraktikern versteht.(MOD)
