Im Zentrum dieses interdisziplinären Bandes steht die mediale Repräsentation von Täter- und Opfergemeinschaften. Die Auseinandersetzung mit den Folgen der Zerstörung menschlicher Gemeinschaft durch politisch und ethnisch motivierte Gewalt basiert dabei auf zwei Prämissen: Zum einen lassen sich in den unterschiedlichen Medien wiederkehrende Formen der Verletzung des Anderen und Darstellungsmuster erkennen, zum anderen befinden sich die medialen Inszenierungen des Täter-Opfer-Verhältnisses in einem Wechselverhältnis zu den nationalen und internationalen Reaktionen auf die evozierten Ereignisse. Auf innovative Weise greifen die Beiträge Impulse aus dem Bereich historischer Täterforschung in einer literatur- und medienwissenschaftlichen Betrachtungsweise auf. Die romanischen Kulturen bilden hier einen Schwerpunkt der Analysen.
