Die Rezeption literarischer Werke jenseits der Grenzen des Sprachraums und des geopolitischen Raums, in denen sie entstanden sind, wird von einer Vielzahl literarischer und außerliterarischer Faktoren sowie von der Tätigkeit spezifischer Vermittlungsinstanzen beeinflusst. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Rezeption der Deutschschweizer Literatur nach 1945 in Rumänien und beleuchtet deren kulturpolitischen und ökonomischen Hintergrund. Sie verfolgt dabei die Kontraste zwischen der Zeitspanne 1945–1989 und der Zeit von der Wende bis zur Gegenwart sowie die sich ändernden Auswahlkriterien in der Vermittlung der ausländischen beziehungsweise der Deutschschweizer Literatur. Die Tätigkeit einiger ausgewählter Vermittler (Verlage, Redakteure, Übersetzer, Literaturwissenschaftler) erfolgt aus einer literatursoziologischen Perspektive; in den Vordergrund rücken der Verwendungszusammenhang des Textes und Aspekte der literarischen Distribution. Die Rezeptionsschicksale einzelner Werke werden in Fallstudien nachgezeichnet, welche die Tragweite und Wirkungsweise literarischer und außerliterarischer Faktoren veranschaulichen.
