Der fünfte Band des Österreichischen Corpus Vitrearum beinhaltet im dritten Teil des Bundeslandes Niederösterreich historisch gewachsene Sammlungen. In der im Biedermeier als Gesamtkunstwerk errichteten und ausgestatteten Franzensburg in Laxenburg konnte erstmals für einige Bestände die bisher ungeklärte Provenienz nachgewiesen werden, darunter von Standorten, die heute nicht mehr existieren, wie etwa die Maßwerkreste des späten 14. Jahrhunderts aus dem Stift Säusenstein. Die spätromantische, zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts erbaute Burganlage von Kreuzenstein bewahrt mittelalterliche Glasgemälde unterschiedlichster Provenienz, die einen besonderen Sammlungsschwerpunkt bildeten, da sie im Historismus zur Vorstellung mittelalterlicher Burgenausstattungen gehörten. Darunter befinden sich auch auf Umwegen aus Stift Heiligenkreuz gekommene Scheiben des 13. Jahrhunderts. Das Diözesanmuseum in St. Pölten beherbergt mit der wichtigen Zimelie der Stephanusscheibe aus Eggenburg das einzige erhaltene Werk der monumentalen Glasmalerei aus dem Kontext der Donauschule. Zwei historisch bemerkenswerte Glasbilder im Stadtmuseum Wiener Neustadt komplettieren den reichen Bestand.
