Die zweisprachige Dokumentarfilmreihe "Menschenlandschaften. Sechs Autorenportraits der Türkei" des Kölner Filmemachers Osman Okkan umfasst persönliche Portraits von sechs Erfolgsautoren aus der Türkei. Die Reihe beinhaltet eine Aktualisierung der beiden früheren WDR/ARTE-Portraits von Nazim Hikmet und Yasar Kemal. "In der Türkei gehören sie zu den ganz großen Namen, dem deutschen Publikum sind sie jedoch nur wenig bekannt: Yasar Kemal, Nazim Hikmet, Asli Erdogan, Orhan Pamuk, Elif Safak und Murathan Mungan. Planet Schule stellt die sechs Schriftstellerinnen und Schriftsteller und ihre herausragenden Leistungen vor. Das Kamerateam hat sie über Jahre hinweg begleitet und zeichnet in zahlreichen Interviews ihr vielfältiges literarisches und gesellschaftliches Wirken nach. Entstanden sind Autorenporträts, die die sechs sehr unterschiedlichen Charaktere zeigen. Sie sind in ihrem Land sehr populär, gleichzeitig stoßen sie bei ihrer Arbeit aber auch immer wieder auf Kritik und Widerstände: Ihre Themen sind historische und politische Tabus - in einem Land, das sich in tiefgreifendem Wandel befindet."
