Serge, ein erfolgreicher Immobilienmakler, führt anscheinend ein glückliches Leben mit seiner attraktiven und viel jüngeren Frau Lucie und den 2 gemeinsamen Kindern. Dieses gerät aus den Fugen, als er auf die unscheinbare Klavierstimmerin Suzanne trifft. Trotz ihrer Gegensätzlichkeit fühlt er sich zu Suzanne hingezogen und beide beginnen eine Affäre. Auch wenn beide nichts zu verbinden scheint, wächst in Serge das Bedürfnis, Suzanne von seinem Verhältnis zu seinem Vater und seinen Kindheitserlebnissen zu erzählen, die sein weiteres Leben prägten. Der Anfang und das letzte Drittel des Buches bilden den Rahmen für eine rückblickende Erzählung. Der Roman präsentiert einen gefühlvollen tagebuchartigen Ausschnitt aus Suzannes Leben, der durch die abwechselnde Erzählperspektive des Ich-Erzählers und eines Erzählers in der 3. Person unterstrichen wird. Wie im zuletzt erschienenen Titel der Autorin ("In diesem Sommer", ID-A 27/12) werden gekonnt Facetten und Gefühle, wie Ablehnung, Eifersucht, Liebe und Verdrängung in poetischen Bildern nachgezeichnet. Sehr gerne für alle Bibliotheken zu empfehlen.

Der verheiratete Serge fühlt sich auf unerklärliche Weise von Suzanne angezogen, die gerade sein Klavier gestimmt hat, und folgt ihr heimlich bis zu ihrem Haus. Bald beginnen beide eine leidenschaftliche Affäre und für Serge eröffnet sich eine Möglichkeit, seine schwierige Kindheit aufzuarbeiten.
