Die 16-jährige Tammie erzählt von ihrem Leben mit einer Krankheit, die jederzeit zum Tode führen kann, einem Aneurysma im Gehirn. Sie will sich darauf vorbereiten, räumt auf, mistet aus und sammelt Sprüche auf Grabsteinen. Auf dem Friedhof trifft sie Fynn, verliebt sich in ihn und möchte diese erste Liebe mit "all den schönen Dingen", die dazu gehören, erleben, auch mit Sex - doch Aufregung ist gefährlich. Wie Tammies Krankheit sich auf die Eltern, den Bruder und die Freunde auswirkt, wie sie das belastet, wie sie reagiert, als sie den Tod hautnah erlebt und wie sie nun, durch die Liebe ermutigt, ein neues fröhliches Leben beginnt, schildert die jüdisch-deutsche Autorin, die bisher meist im Filmfach gearbeitet hat, sehr einfühlsam, behutsam und ehrlich, ohne Gefühlsduselei. Ein berührendes Thema, ganz unspektakulär dargestellt, das hier nachdenklich, aber nicht traurig macht. Bei der Ausleihe sollte man bedenken, dass normaler Sex zwar zart, aber detailliert geschildert wird. Für ältere Jugendliche mit entsprechenden Interessen empfohlen.
