Nach der Wende gründeten 7 bedeutende Fotografen der ehemaligen DDR die Fotoagentur "Ostkreuz", die heute 18 Mitglieder hat, alle Könner ihres Fachs. 5 davon haben in diesem Ausstellungskatalog und Bildband Material zusammengestellt: Reportage- und Porträtarbeiten von bestechender Menschlichkeit, Beobachtungsgabe und augenzwinkerndem Humor aus den 1970er- und 1980er-Jahren. Hochwertig im Duotonverfahren gedruckt, spiegeln die Bilder sehr schön nachvollziehbar den teilweise etwas trashigen, grobkörnig-authentischen Ton der Aufnahme- und Papiermaterialien wider, mit denen Ostblockfotografen damals zu tun hatten, der aber auch den ehrlichen Charme der Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos ausmacht. Vom Interieur der Plattenbauten bis zum Fußballspiel, vom Bildhauerporträt bis zum Fotoessay (eines Wessis) zum Mauerfall reicht das Spektrum dieses nostalgisch-fotoästhetischen Bandes, der einen unverstellten und ungeschönten Blick ins pralle DDR-Leben ermöglicht. Im Aufbau also vergleichbar und ähnlich einsetzbar wie "Utopie und Wirklichkeit" (BA 5/05) oder den Monografien von G. Gäbler (BA 5/95) oder R. Michel (BA 9/99). (2)
