Das Livland- oder Salis-Livische, die im 19. Jahrhundert untergegangene Schwestersprache des Livischen in Kurland (Lettland), ist im Wesentlichen durch die Sprachproben Johann Andreas Sjögrens bekannt. Diese im Jahre 1846 aufgezeichneten Proben waren nach Sjögrens Tode von Ferdinand Johann Wiedemann überarbeitet und 1861 ediert worden. Wegen ihrer sprachreformatorischen und normativen Ausrichtung ist diese Edition jedoch für die historische Erschließung der damals wirklich gesprochenen Sprache unbrauchbar. Eberhard Winkler und Karl Pajusalu legen daher nun eine kritische Edition der Feldaufzeichnungen Sjögrens auf Grundlage der Originalhandschrift vor. Sie umfasst neben einleitenden Anmerkungen zu Hintergrund und Aufbau die transkribierten Feldaufzeichnungen und die darin enthaltenen Sätze in Glossierung und Übersetzung. Der in Arbeit befindliche zweite Band wird eine Grammatik des Salis-Livischen enthalten.
