"The two current issues of the FUMA magazine are dedicated to the subject of brick architecture in Central Europe. All studies are based on lectures presented at the conference entitled 'Brick and Building Ceramics in Medieval and Modern Urban Architecture of Central Europe', which was held between 22 and 24 September 2014 in Wrocław, Poland. A total of 27 contributions attest to the increased interest that brick architecture enjoys today among medieval archaeologists, building historians, architects and heritage preservationists. Although most of the articles were penned by Czech and Polish researchers, studies from Austria, Slovakia and Hungary are also included. [...] While this collection of contributions does not cover the whole of Central Europe, and works from the German speaking environment and historical Hungary are obviously missing, it does provide a picture of the present state of research into brick architecture in our geographical area."
