Content: Au tout début des années 1960, Plozévet, une petite commune du sud du Finistère, accueillait une grande enquête collective interdisciplinaire, sans doute la plus grande du genre entreprise en France depuis l'après-guerre. Près d'une centaine de chercheurs prirent le chemin du pays bigouden et auscultèrent ses habitants, leur environnement et leur histoire sous presque tous les angles. Première grande Action concertée dans une Basse-Bretagne en proie à une révolution des campagnes, l'expérience plozévétienne fut suivie de bien d'autres qui eurent toutes pour objectif de s'intéresser à des mondes ruraux et à leurs multiples facettes. Des années soixante aux années quatre-vingt, l'Aubrac, le Châtillonnais – dont Minot –, les Baronnies, la Corse et la Margeride devinrent ainsi des terrains soumis aux regards des scientifiques et furent, ce faisant, pensés comme de nouveaux espaces de la connaissance. Cet ouvrage collectif revient sur ces expériences et situe au préalable leur inscription dans l'élaboration progressive d'une ethnologie du proche. Un arrière-plan qui permet de mieux envisager la première d'entres elles, Plozévet (au cœur de ce livre), à travers une mise au point historique, des témoignages et des relectures ciblées, et les suivantes à travers les contributions réflexives de chercheurs qui furent les témoins et les acteurs de ces opérations à vocation scientifique.
