1784 in Wien komponierte W. A. Mozart sein F-Dur-Klavierkonzert KV 459, das auch den Beinamen 2. Krönungskonzert hat, da es neben dem eigentlichen Krönungskonzert (KV 537) bei der Krönung des Kaisers Leopold II. 1790 in Frankfurt aufgeführt wurde. Dem heiteren, mit seinem marschartigen 1. Satz auch äußerst populär gewordene Klavierkonzert, stellt der Pianist Francesco Piemontesi, der hier vom Scottish Chamber Orchestra unter Andrew Manze begleitet wird, Mozarts letztes Klavierkonzert, das Konzert Es-Dur KV 595 zur Seite. Es ist Mozarts reifstes Werk und weist schon stark in die Romantik hinaus. Besonders der 3. Satz, der im Refrainthema das "Frühlingslied" ("Komm lieber Mai und mache") verwendet, hat große Popularität erlangt. Mozart führte das Werk bei seinem letzten öffentlichen Auftreten als Solist 1791 erstmals auf. Ergänzt wird die Aufnahme mit dem anmutigen Konzertrondo A-Dur KV 386. Zwei populäre Klavierkonzerte Mozarts, das Konzert F-Dur KV 459 ("2. Krönungskonzert") und sein Es-Dur-Konzert KV 595, das im letzten Satz das Frühlingslied "Komm lieber Mai und mache" verwendet, in der Interpretation mit Francesco Piemontesi und dem Scottish Chamber Orchestra unter Andrew Manze.

TON-E Mit dieser Aufnahme, dem Nachfolger, der im Sommer 2017 veröffentlichten Mozart-Klavierkonzert Nr. 25 und 26, findet das 'Dream Team' Francesco Piemontesi, Andrew Manze und das Scottish Chamber Orchestra für zwei weitere Konzerte wieder zusammen. Auf dem Programm stehen das anmutige und sonnige Konzert Nr. 19 in F-Dur und das reife und prächtige Nr. 27 in B-Dur, Mozarts letztes Klavierkonzert. Als Piemontesi Nr. 27 bei den BBC Proms 2018 spielte, kommentierte The Independent: "Piemontesis Spiel war absolut sicher... sein Klang war durchgehend herrlich transparent". Dieses gut eingespielte Team erhielt mehrere Auszeichnungen für die gemeinsame Debüt-Aufnahme (Benchmark Recording France Musique, Aufnahme des Presto Classical des Jahres, Excepcional Scherzo, Editor's Choice Gramophone, Album der Woche Classic FM), was die Erwartungen an diese neue Aufnahme noch erhöht. Das SCO, das weithin als eines der größten Mozart-Orchester der Welt gilt, findet in der Frische und Spontaneität des Spiels von Piemontesi einen idealen Mitstreiter. Rezension Subtil Francesco Piemontesi verfügt sowohl über das Handwerkszeug als auch das Bewusstsein für die divergenten Haltungen in Mozarts Klavierkonzerten. Mozart gehört nicht unbedingt zum Lieblingsrepertoire junger Virtuosen. Das dürfte vor allem daran liegen, dass in Mozarts Musik vor allem artikulatorische und klangliche Differenzierungsfähigkeit gefragt sind, dazu gilt es, das rechte Maß zu finden zwischen subjektiver Anverwandlung und Treue zum Notentext. Der Schweizer Francesco Piemontesi verfügt sowohl über das Handwerkszeug als auch das Bewusstsein für die divergenten Haltungen in Mozarts Klavierkonzerten, die im Konzert B-Dur KV 595 fast opernhafte Züge annehmen können.
