14 Jahr nach "Raising Sand" folgt das zweite gemeinsame Album von Robert Plant und Alison Krauss. Wieder nahmen sie sich einiger Folk- und Rockstücke an und interpretierten diese neu.

TON-U 14 Jahre nach ihrer ersten gemeinsamen, mit einem Grammy ausgezeichneten Platte "Raising Sand" sind Alison Krauss und Robert Plant wieder zusammen ins Studio gegangen, um "Raise the Roof" aufzunehmen. Er ist eine Rocklegende, Sänger, Songwriter und der ehemalige Frontmann von Led Zeppelin; sie ist ein Bluegrass- und Country-Star, der bereits 27 Grammys sein Eigentum nennt. Zwölf Songs aus den Bereichen Country, Blues und Pop hat sich das Duo mit Hilfe superber Begleitmusiker vorgenommen, darunter Schlagzeuger Jay Bellerose, die Gitarristen Marc Ribot, David Hidalgo, Bill Frisell und Buddy Miller, die Bassisten Dennis Crouch und Viktor Krass sowie Pedal Steel-Gitarrist Russ Pahl. Die zwei so unterschiedlichen Stimmen von Krauss und Plant ergänzen sich perfekt: hier der glockenklare Gesang von Krauss, da das eher raue, unverkennbare Organ Plants. Genauso vereinen sie verschiedene US-Musiktraditionen und kreieren so etwas wie insgesamt doch eher düsteren Americana-Noir- Klänge. Wie schon beim Vorgänger übernahm T Bone Burnett die Produktion des Albums. Zusammen mit Plant ist er zudem für die einzige Neukomposition auf "Raise The Roof" verantwortlich: den Song »High and Lonesome«. Die übrigen Titel, alte Folksongs und neue Rockstücke, stammen unter anderem von Merle Haggard, Allen Toussaint, den Everly Brothers, Anne Briggs, Geeshie Wiley, Bert Jansch.
