Die Theorie eines Wissenschaftlers, daß auf dem Mond reiche Goldvorkommen lagern, zieht nicht nur seinen Freund, den Erbauer eines Raumschiffes, an, sondern auch den Vertreter eines Konsortiums, das die Goldwirtschaft der Erde kontrolliert. Er erpreßt seinen Mitflug. Als sich die Annahme des Wissenschaftlers bewahrheitet, kommt es zu einem dramatischen Konflikt. Der Wirtschaftsvertreter stirbt im Zweikampf, kann zuvor aber das Raumschiff so beschädigen, daß es nicht alle Überlebenden befördern kann. Um seinen Freund und dessen Verlobte zu retten, opfert sich der Ingenieur. Doch die Frau hat erkannt, daß sie sich für den falschen Mann entschieden hat; heimlich bleibt auch sie auf dem Mond zurück. Auch wenn viele utopische Vorstellungen des Films heute naiv erscheinen, verblüfft der Ideenreichtum.
