Pozsgay bewertet zunächst die jüngsten Ereignisse in China (Repression der Massenproteste) und in Polen (Verhandlungen PVAO-Solidarität, Wahlen) und betont als Konsequenz für Ungarn die Notwendigkeit der forcierten Demokratisierung (Schaffung eines neuen demokratischen Repräsentativsystems). In seinem Ausblick auf den kommenden Parteitag der USAP verweist er auf die beiden politischen Alternativen innerhalb der Partei: Reformbewegung vs. "Sektierer" bzw. Demokratisierung, Offenheit, Publizität und Verantwortung gegenüber der Bevölkerung vs. soziale Demagogie. Sodann skizziert Pozsgay sein politisches Programm und definiert seine Rolle im Prozeß der demokratischen Transformation des politischen Systems Ungarns (Schaffung eines neuen politischen Modells gemäß den Prinzipien Pluralismus, Rechtsstaatlichkeit, politische Partizipation und Demokratie). Abschließend umreißt Pozsgay kurz sein Wirtschaftsprogramm. (BIOst-Klk)
