Auf ganzseitigen Illustrationen, die in Grün/Braun/Beige gehalten sind, wird das Thema "Armut" (aus reicher Sicht) behandelt. M.E. eine verpasste Chance, weil das Thema dabei nahezu auf Entwicklungsländer reduziert wird. In der 1. Hälfte wird der Begriff definiert und es werden einige Gründe (z.B. Krieg) und Auswirkungen (z.B. auf Gesundheit, Konzentration) aufgezeigt. Die 2. Hälfte zeigt verschiedene Wege der Unterstützung (z.B. Hilfsorganisationen). Nett: eine kleine Katze ist auf (fast) jeder Seite zu finden. Das Buch regt zum Nachdenken, Sprechen und Handeln an ("Wie kannst du helfen?"). Mit weiterführenden Links und kleinem Glossar. J. Bauer ("Armut", ID-A 1/18) ist eher für ältere Kinder in weiterführenden Schulen. K. Boie ("Ein mittelschönes Leben", ID-A 43/11) betrachtet das Thema mit dem Schwerpunkt Obdachlosigkeit. Nur wenige Bilderbücher für die Kleinen z.B. von C. Dubois ("Stromer", ID-A 44/17) oder "Was ist los mit Marie?" (BA 1/05). - Erste Wahl zu einem wichtigen, wenig behandelten, wenn auch nicht leichten Thema. Nachdrücklich für Grundschüler empfohlen, auch in Schulbibliotheken. Fleur Hummel ; Die wichtigsten Antworten auf Kinderfragen zur Armut ab 5 Jahren. Arm zu sein, ist schlimm. Manchen Menschen auf der Welt fehlt sogar das Nötigste: sauberes Wasser und genug zu essen. Andere können ihre Kinder nicht zur Schule schicken. Dieses Buch erklärt kindgerecht, warum es Armut gibt, manche Menschen keine Arbeit haben oder nicht alles kaufen können, was sie für ein gesundes Leben brauchen.
