Eine Analyse der Lernvoraussetzungen sowie die Abnahme von Interesse und Selbstkonzept im Verlauf des ersten Semesters geben Hinweise auf Probleme im individuellen Lernprozess. Im Gegensatz zu motivationalen Merkmalen beeinflussen die mathematische Kompetenz, die schulische Leistung und die Verwendung von Selbsterklärungen den Studienerfolg im ersten Semester.
