Harun Farocki zeigt eine ungewohnte Innenansicht vom heutigen Wirtschaftsleben. Verhandlungen illustrieren, dass Kapitalismus heißt, vertrauen zu müssen. Wenn es gut geht, gibt es eine "Win-Win-Situation". Geht es schlecht, gilt leider der Vertrag. Der Film zeigt Wirtschaft als das Leben selbst. Harun Farocki beschäftigt sich in "Nicht ohne Risiko" mit Venture Capital, Risikokapital, bei dem es gewöhnlich um hohes Risiko, hohen Einsatz und große Profitmöglichkeiten geht. Ein Kapitalgeber investiert in ein kapitalschwaches Unternehmen, erwirbt eine Mindestbeteiligung und hofft dabei auf eine hohe Rendite bei einem späteren Verkauf der Firma. Farocki zeigt zwei Verhandlungsrunden. Es geht um 750.000 Euro. Die Firma NCTE, Herstellerin eines offenbar sehr innovativen Drehmoment-Sensors, bestreitet vehement, ein "Risikofall" zu sein; gleichwohl fordert ihr Gegenüber, der Verhandler des internationalen Kapitalgebers Buchanan, das Einhalten der Spielregeln. "Nach bestem Wissen und Gewissen" mögen die "Businesspläne und die Milestones" angegeben werden, denn man sei zwar kein "angenehmer", dafür ein "berechenbarer Partner"... Farocki, bereits ein Klassiker des politischen Dokumentarfilms in Deutschland, bedient sich der Methoden des "direct cinema" und konzentriert sich alleine auf die Beobachtung seiner Akteure mit der Kamera. "Schon seit über vierzig Jahren gibt es das, was man direct cinema nennt. Bei all der heutigen Hochschätzung der Story und der Geringschätzung der Begriffsanstrengung müsste diese Darstellungsform vorherrschen", so Farocki. "Der Dokumentarfilm, der die Form der reinen Erzählung wählt, ist notwendig unvermittelt. Ohne Kommentar und ohne sonstige wörtliche Erklärung will solch ein Film nicht gleich im guten oder schlechten Allgemeinen aufgehen." (Lernzeit)
