Op 10 mei 1940 viel Duitsland België aan. In de daarop volgende dagen ging de Belgische Staatsveiligheid over tot de internering van Duitsers die in het onbezette gebied woonden. Ook nazigezinde Belgen werden opgepakt, zoals ook communisten. Ze werden allen weggevoerd naar Frankrijk. Nauwelijks bekend is dat veruit de meeste gearresteerden Joden waren, die in de jaren 1930 nazi-Duitsland hadden ontvlucht! België maakte blijkbaar geen onderscheid.00Deze publicatie volgt het lot van de Joodse gedeporteerden vanaf mei 40. Hun lot vermengt zich met dat van Joden die België in 1940-1944 ontvluchten. Vanuit Drancy en elders werden zon 5.850 Joden uit België gedeporteerd. Haast niemand keerde in 1945 levend terug.00Hun namen zijn vergeten, hun gelaat is vervaagd.
