This film tells the story of the Komsomol members of the mining town of Krasnodon who form a resistance group (the Young Guard) and perform acts of sabotage against the Nazi Occupation. In part two, the Young Guard organise a concert to distract the German soldiers whilst they burn down the German Labour Exchange. Shortly after, the members of the Young Guard are arrested, imprisoned and executed by the retreating German Army
