TON-U Szenen aus dem Roadmovie "Easy Rider", die von Freiheit und Ursprünglichkeit erzählen, mögen vor dem inneren Auge vorbeiziehen, wenn man "Flying Like Eagles" hört. Was vor allem am musikalischen Ausgangsmaterial liegt: Traditionelle amerikanische Roots Music, teilweise indianischen Ursprungs wird hier interpretiert. Erweitert um drei Songklassiker, die diesen Spirit ebenfalls in sich tragen. Die Herkunft der Protagonisten des Albums überrascht, aber es ist nur scheinbar ein Widerspruch, dass die beiden Gitarristen nicht aus den amerikanischen Südstaaten, sondern aus Skandinavien stammen. Der Finne Kalle Kalima hat schon als Teenager eine Leidenschaft für die Traditional American Folk Music entwickelt. Während seines Musikstudiums hat er dann ein Austauschjahr in Chicago verbracht und ist tief in die dortige Szene eingetaucht. In der Folge ist Kalima immer wieder darauf zurückgekommen. Dass auch die Norweger den Blues haben, zeigt Knut Reiersrud bereits sein ganzes Leben lang. Nachdem ihn Buddy Guy und Otis Rush mit 18 Jahren entdeckten, wurden die USA zu seiner musikalischen Heimat. Er spielte mit amerikanischen Musikgrößen wie Dr. John, Stevie Ray Vaughan, den Blind Boys of Alabama und dem afroamerikanischen Soulsänger Mighty Sam McClain. Kalima und Reiersrud sind zwei Gitarristen die sich perfekt ergänzen - der Eine vom Jazz und Rock kommend, der Andere vom Blues und der Weltmusik. Und so ist dieses Album ein waschechtes Gitarrenalbum geworden, bei dem Kalima und Reiersrud die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten ihrer Instrumente ausloten.
