Der französische Strahltrainer Fouga Magister CM170 war das erste Schulflugzeug mit Strahlantrieb, das auch von der Bundeswehr mit insgesamt 234 Maschinen beschafft wurde. Von 1957 bis 1969 waren die CM170 im Schulungsbetrieb eingesetzt, zuletzt allerdings nur noch bei den Marinefliegern. Die Geschichte der Maschine, ihre Entwicklung, ihr Einsatz und ihre technischen Daten werden detailliert beschreiben, dabei werden auch die Flugzeugführerausbildung und die Ausbildungseinrichtungen der Luftwaffe dieser Zeit angesprochen. Mehrere Dutzend Fotos, Risszeichnungen und Detailzeichnungen des Cockpits ergänzen die Beschreibung. Im Anhang sind alle 234 Maschinen mit ihren Bundeswehr-Kennzeichen und ihrem Verbleib aufgelistet. Eine weitere Tabelle gibt Aufschluss über die Abstürze der Fouga Magister.
