Digitale Vernetzung wird als neues Merkmal von Arbeit immer offensichtlicher. Mit der Durchdringung der Arbeit mit digitalen Technologien – von E-Mail-Programmen, Online-Kalendern und ERP-Systemen zu cyber-physischen Systemen – gehen spezifische, in besonderer Weise auch belastende Anforderungen einher. Die Vernetzung mit Hilfe digitaler Technologien nimmt dabei nicht nur quantitativ über Hierarchieebenen, Qualifikationsstufen, Organisationseinheiten und Arbeitsbereiche hinweg zu, sondern verändert Arbeit auch in qualitativer Hinsicht: Digitale Technologien werden zu einem integralen Bestandteil der Vernetzungsarbeit selbst. Der Sammelband vereint die Befunde und Perspektiven zum Phänomen der digital vernetzten Arbeit, die im BMBF-geförderten Projekt „Arbeit oberhalb der mentalen Dauerbelastungsgrenze: Leistungsregulierung bei qualifizierter digital vernetzter Arbeit“ (LedivA) in drei Unternehmen aus Produktion und Dienstleistung gewonnen wurden. Im Vordergrund stehen arbeitssoziologische, arbeitspsychologische und arbeitsmedizinische Überlegungen zur Digitalisierung vernetzter Arbeit, empirische Befunde zu neuen mentalen Anforderungen und Belastungen digital vernetzter Arbeit und Interventionsmöglichkeiten, die verhaltens- und verhältnisbezogene Maßnahmen umfassen. Der Autor Dr. Michael Heinlein ist Wissenschaftler am ISF München. Zugleich hat er als Vertretungsprofessor für Allgemeine Soziologie an der Universität Koblenz-Landau (Campus Koblenz) gearbeitet und Lehraufträge an der LMU München, der FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg und der Hochschule München wahrgenommen. Er befasst sich im Rahmen mehrerer Projekte (u.a. LedivA, ProdiKA, KIMeGe, aSTAR, ÖPNV 4.0) insbesondere mit Fragen der Digitalisierung von Arbeit und Organisationen, der Sozialität und Handlungsträgerschaft von Technik sowie Arbeit als sozio-technischer Praxis. Als Mit-Herausgeber einer soziologischen Lehrbuchreihe ("Soziologie im 21. Jahrhundert", Fink/UTB) widmet er sich grundständigen Fragen der soziologischen Forschung und Lehre.
